Half Marathon Takes Whole Race State Title

By Staff Reports, posted May 17, 2024
The Wilmington Historic Half has been named the top half marathon in North Carolina, according to a news release from the Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau.

RaceRaves, an online race finder and reviews community for runners and endurance athletes, recently announced the winners of its 2024 “Runners Choice: Best Half Marathons in the U.S.” poll. The top half marathon in each state was crowned based on nearly 20,000 votes from runners across the country, along with finisher ratings and reviews on RaceRaves.com, according to a news release.

“Common themes among the winning events include exceptional production and race-day support, strong community involvement, and a half marathon course that showcases the distinctive beauty, charm, and character of the local region,” the release stated.

Race director Erica Svab stated in the release, “Our runners are fantastic and keep coming back year after year to run with us. We are working to make this year’s race another great experience for everyone.”

Registration is now open for the next Wilmington Historic Half, 10K & 5K, which will take place Dec. 7 this year.

RaceRaves.com has the complete list of winning half marathons by state and by month, plus a profile of each.
