Sharron Angle, the former Nevada state legislator who lost a bid to unseat U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the 2010 election, will be the keynote speaker at the New Hanover County GOP’s annual Reagan Dinner next week.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach.

Angle, a Tea Party-backed Republican, challenged Reid in the mid-term election and at one point built an 11 percentage point lead in the polls, but in the end, Reid defeated her handily with more than 50 percent of the vote, while Angle picked up 44.5 percent.

“We are delighted and honored to have as keynote speaker constitutional conservative Sharron Angle of Nevada,” said Rhonda Amoroso, chairwoman of the county GOP. “We hope folks will come out and hear and meet Sharron and welcome her to the Port City.”

Angle is currently on tour promoting her book “Right Angle.”

A number of statewide candidates and elected officials will be on hand from across the state. This event is open to the public regardless of affiliation.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.newhanovergop.com with a credit card or by calling (910) 547-5249 for more information.
