Sport Clips expands retail reach

Sport Clips will soon open its third store franchise in Wilmington.

Franchise owner Ed Majeski said Thursday that his newest location will soon occupy 1,600 square feet of space in Unit K of the Porters Neck Shopping Center, 8207 Market St.

Majeski currently operates Sport Clips locations at University Commons, 343 S. College Road, Suite 343-1, and in Monkey Junction at 5621 Carolina Beach Road, Suite D. He also operates two additional franchises in Greenville and Wilson.

Nicholas Silivanch, vice president of retail leasing and acquisition for Wilmington-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners, and broker with Team Silivanch at the firm, completed the long-term retail lease transaction on behalf of the tenant and landlord for an undisclosed amount. 

The Georgetown, Texas-based company is a sports-themed salon franchise that specializes in hair care for men and boys, sporting large flat-screen televisions playing sports at each barber-style station and in the lobby.

Majeski said the new location is planning its grand opening Sept. 28 and is currently retrofitting the space for future occupancy. He said he plans to hire seven or eight employees initially, with plans to hire three additional employees as determined by demand.
