Wilmington Maritime Law Tradition Continues

Sponsored Content provided by Geoffrey Losee - Partner, Rountree Losee LLP

Rountree Losee LLP has been providing high-quality legal services since its founding in 1896.

Since inception, the firm has expanded its practice areas to include labor and employment law, real estate law, transportation law and mediation services, among others.

The firm regularly attends and presents at conferences to expand its knowledge of practice areas, as well as to brief attendees on new developments within a particular practice area. This year, the firm is excited to attend, and present at, the 2018 SEALI Annual Seminar.

SEALI (he Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute) was established in 1968 to provide information, membership and other resources to attorneys admitted to practice in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Maryland, who are interested in the practice of admiralty law.

Rountree Losee LLP’s George Rountree III (Special Counsel) and Geoffrey Losee (Managing Partner) are former chairmen of SEALI and still actively contribute to help further the organization’s mission of preparing professionals for the practice of admiralty and maritime law.

In June, SEALI’s Annual Seminar will be attended by Rountree Losee LLP’s newest associates, Diane Pappayliou and Katie Greene.

Diane graduated cum laude from Elon University School of Law and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2016. Diane focuses primarily on business-related issues, but has experience across many other practice areas, including estate planning, litigation and maritime and municipal law.

Katie graduated magna cum laude from Campbell University School of Law and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 2014. Katie primarily focuses on criminal law issues, but has experience in other practices areas, including maritime law, civil law and municipal law.

Diane and Katie will be presenting a case law update on maritime decisions from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th circuits, as well as The Supreme Court of the United States. The pair’s presentation will focus on legal developments within the admiralty and maritime practice that occurred within the past year.

Diane and Katie, along with the other diverse team members, have aided in propelling Rountree Losee LLP to receive national acknowledgement for its integral contributions to the legal community, including the 2018 Best Law Firms “Tier 1” Ranking for Commercial Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, Admiralty and Maritime Law honors; 2018 Best Lawyers in America for Admiralty and Maritime Law; and, the Corporate USA Today Best Alcoholic Beverage and Brewery Law for North Carolina designation.

The firm is overjoyed to have Diane and Katie present at the upcoming SEALI Annual Seminar. While Rountree Losee has proudly served as counsel to North Carolina’s numerous maritime industries for more than 120 years - as our other accolades reflect - the firm offers a wide range of legal services.
