Three Physicians Join NHRMC Physician Group

The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Physician Group welcomed three new physicians in September, according to a news release.

Mehtap Canastar joined NHRMC Physician Group-Hanover Gastroenterology. She earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and genetics from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, and a doctor of medicine from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Canastar completed a residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York, and a fellowship in gastroenterology from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.

Mary K. Meadowcroft (pictured below) joined New Hanover Regional Medical Center-Coastal FamilyMedicine. Meadowcroft earned a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctor of medicine degree from the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She completed a residency in family medicine at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Eric Scofield (pictured below) joined NHRMC Physician Group-Cape Fear Cancer Specialists, focusing on hematology and medical oncology. Scofield earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University.

He earned a master’s degree in public health with a focus on biostatistics and epidemiology and a doctor of medicine from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.

Scofield completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
