Wilmington Eye Welcomes Surgeon

By Staff Reports, posted Nov 29, 2021
Dr. Clark Springs
Clark Springs, a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon specializing in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery, has joined Wilmington Eye.

Springs completed his residency in ophthalmology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was elected chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery at Duke University.

Following training, he was recruited back to Indiana University and spent 13 years as a full-time academic ophthalmologist where he became the director of cornea and refractive surgery. In that role, Springs served as a community resource for routine and complex cases and taught physicians-in-training to do surgery.

He also was also one of two surgeons at a high-volume LASIK center and has performed thousands of refractive procedures.

Springs joins Travis Jenkins in providing specialized vision care for patients of all ages with cornea issues and other ocular diseases that affect the cornea. Springs will also be offering corneal crosslinking – an advanced procedure that treats severe cases of keratoconus and can, in some cases, eliminate the need for extensive eye surgery.
