WECT Names General Sales Manager

By Staff Reports, posted May 20, 2022
WECT has named Matt Bowman as the station's general sales manager.

Bowman will start on Monday, filling the role of Eileen Stammetti, who is retiring after working at WECT for about eight years.

A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Bowman has 30 years of advertising and media experience, according to a WECT press release.

He began his TV career in the Wilmington market in 1995 as an account executive. Bowman later worked in broadcast stations throughout the Carolinas in Raleigh, Charlotte, Greensboro and Greenville. He was most recently general sales manager of WCAV/WVAW/WAHU in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“We are thrilled to have Matt back in Wilmington leading WECT’s sales team” Mark Mendenhall, WECT’s vice president and general manager, said in the release. “Eileen’s retirement is leaving some big shoes to fill, but with his experience, broadcast and digital knowledge, I’m confident that Matt will continue to build on the success that our clients expect.”

For his part, Bowman said it was an honor to return to Wilmington.

“I'm excited to join the strong team at WECT to further growing businesses in the Cape Fear Region with our powerful news, highly viewed entertainment programs, and our innovative, targeted digital options,” Bowman said in the release. “It's an honor to return to Wilmington and continue WECT's long legacy of commitment to the viewers and advertisers."
