Jason Clamme, Lower Cape Feaar LifeCare director of community engagement, recently received the Hospice-Veteran Partnership Leadership Award during the 2023 Association of Home and Hospice Care of NC conference, according to a news release.
The award recognizes a hospice employee who is a leader within their organization and community in efforts to better serve veterans and their families, the release stated. At the same ceremony, Clamme was recognized with a certificate of appreciation from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) for his outstanding work with veterans, according to the release.
"With his guidance, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare has achieved Level 4 Partnership in the We Honor Veterans Program, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)," the release stated. "Clamme and his team are currently working on achieving Level 5 Partnership status for the agency, the highest level in the program. Clamme’s work has also helped develop a variety of veteran services including the nonprofit’s Vet-to-Vet Volunteer program, education for team members and volunteers on the unique needs of Veterans and has helped establish an overall agency culture centered around Veteran care, honor and recognition."
Not only has he spoken to countless Veterans groups and organizations, but he also represents Lower Cape Fear LifeCare by participating in numerous Veteran-related events: Veterans Day parades, Veterans Standdowns, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) initiatives (he is an honorary member) and Purple Heart ceremonies.
Clamme volunteers as part of the leadership team for the local Honor Flight and served as a guardian during its latest trip to Washington, D.C.
