Museum Board Announces New Members, Officers

At its annual meeting in June, Cape Fear Museum Associates Inc. honored three retiring board members and elected officers and five new board members, according to a news release. 

Katie Gloe retired from the board after seven years of active service, and Amy Akers and Kate Baynard retired after six years of active service. Officers for the coming year are Toni Pence, president; Chip Rajca, vice president; Susan Hanna, secretary; and John Coble, treasurer.  

New board members have each been elected to serve three-year terms on the associates' board. They are:

Sam Dooies 
District Attorney’s Office, Public Information Officer

As the public information officer for the district attorney’s office, Dooies coordinates and leads community outreach efforts. Her previous board service includes Wilmington Health Access for Teens (WHAT) and Cape Fear Museum. She holds a history degree from the University of Florida and a master’s in museum studies from NYU. She has also taught at UNC Wilmington, combining her love of history, education, and community service.

Terry Espy
President of Commercial & Business Brokerage at MoMentum Properties
"Espy is a commercial real estate and business broker with deep ties to the Wilmington community," the release stated. She serves as president of Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts and is a past president of the Downtown Business Alliance. Her previous board service includes Cape Fear Museum, Historic Wilmington Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), according to the release. Espy was recently honored with the Cape Fear CREW Award of Excellence and enjoys performing as a member of a local band, The Hot Flashes.

Danielle McIntosh
VP Technology Support Manager at Live Oak Bank
McIntosh serves as board president of Everyone Counts (E1C), a nonprofit focused on improving the quality of life for marginalized communities. She is also co-vice president of Going Beyond the Pink, an organization that supports and empowers breast cancer patients and survivors, and she will step into the role of president this July. Additionally, she serves on the board of DREAMS of Wilmington and is an alumna of the 2024 class of Leadership Wilmington.

Beth Pancoe
Founder & Retired President of SDI Construction – Community member and philanthropist 
Pancoe is one of the first licensed female contractors in Eastern North Carolina and the founder of SDI Construction, a company known for its work on historic restorations, including the Temple of Israel, the Burgwin-Wright House, and the DuBois Boatwright House. "A named donor of the Cameron Art Museum’s Pancoe Education Center, she is also deeply committed to community service. She has served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and Thalian Hall and has led fundraising efforts for Phoenix Hometown Hires and the Cape Fear Literacy Council," the release stated.

Nate Peck
Lead Radiological Engineer at GE Vernova Hitachi 

Peck has a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He chairs GE’s community engagement efforts and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. He recently attended Cape Fear Museum’s STEM ILM event, bringing a team of young GE engineers to help spark interest in STEM careers among local students.
