Genesis Block is an initiative set up to include coworking and incubator space where people working on tech startups and small businesses can come together in a creative environment to collaborate.
The founders of Genesis Block are entrepreneurial couple Tracey and Girard Newkirk.
The initiative, which is expected to be located in downtown Wilmington, has also established a partnership with Wilmington-based startup incubator tekMountain, which has invested $50,000, to develop a technology platform promoting Black entrepreneurs and small businesses.
On Wednesday's BizTalk, the Newkirks discussed Genesis Block and their efforts to build a business class in Wilmington block by block.
They also talked about the new platform, dubbed Anza, which is planned to help identify Black-owned businesses regionally, provide resources and tools for entrepreneurs and provide index information for companies and organizations that want to collaborate with Black-owned businesses.
