Beach Towns Rank On USA Today Top 10 List

By Staff Reports, posted Jun 21, 2024

Three New Hanover County island beaches are featured among the top four “Best Beaches in North Carolina” in a recent USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest.

Best Beach nominees were announced in late April. Over the next four weeks readers of USA Today voted daily for their favorite beaches to determine the winners, according to a news release.

Carolina Beach garnered the top spot of the local beaches at No. 2, Kure Beach ranked No. 3, and Wrightsville Beach, No. 4. Winners of the best beaches in seven coastal states were announced May 29, the release stated.

Kim Hufham, president and CEO of Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau, stated in the release, “This announcement is especially timely as we welcome visitors to Wilmington and our island beaches for memorable summer vacations.”

Nominees for all categories of the USA Today 10Best awards are chosen by a panel of experts.
