As executive director at Plantation Village, a nonprofit retirement community in Porters Neck, Bennett relies on his iPhone calendar, apps and an online platform.
 
“I live by my iPhone calendar and I go where it tells me to go. I also enjoy apps like MyFitnessPal, LinkedIn, Calm and the convenience of apps like Venmo and Lyft,” Bennett said. “At Plantation Village, we enjoy a customized business insight dashboard (Oracle Platform) that allows us to see key performance indicators in real time, so we can adjust quickly where needed.”
 
Newspapers and magazines Bennett reads include The Week, Wall Street Journal, Greater Wilmington Business Journal, Harvard Business Review, Travel + Leisure and Fast Company.
 
Seniorhousingnews.com and NIC.org are websites Bennett uses for industry updates and analytics.
 
One favorite podcast is A Way with Words.
 
“I listened to an episode on a road trip and was immediately hooked,” he said. “EntreLeaderership Podcast – always features great guests and leaves me feeling motivated to lead.”
 
North Carolina Weekend on PBS, House Hunters on HGTV, old episodes of The Office and Succession on HBO are TV shows Bennett enjoys.
 
Books Bennett recommends include “Humble Inquiry: The Gentle Art of Asking Instead of Telling” by Edgar Schein and “Political Tribes” by Amy Chua.
