Joseph Conway helps the city design a five-year strategic plan to improve understanding, equity and civic inclusion. He uses technology to review quantifiable and qualifiable peer-reviewed research and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices and to read stories about the personal impacts of biases, looking for case studies.

Book picks are “Every Day Bias” by Howard J. Ross, “Braving the Wilderness” by Brené Brown, “The Conversation” by Robert Livingston and “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents” by Isabel Wilkerson.
 
Conway loves foreign and domestic martial arts films as well as Dune, G.I. Jane, A Few Good Men and I Am Not Your Negro about the life and works of James Baldwin.
 
Favorite app games when bored or killing time include Solitaire, Tower of Madness, Evony and Age of Z Origins.
