As a leader at the local radio station, Crane starts his day with Twitter where he follows journalists to see what they are talking about. He then tunes his Alexa to WHQR.
“Over breakfast I’ll try my hand at Wordle on the New York Times site because I know my son will text me his results later,” he said. Crane relies on his phone calendar and classical music.
Newspapers and magazines he regularly reads include The Washington Post for national news and The Sun magazine.
Favorite websites he regularly checks include WHQR for local news and streaming programs and music.
Crane is a big fan of podcasts and rotates through different ones including Something Rhymes with Purple for word etymology; Throughline, for history; Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!, to listen while dog walking; and Car Talk, for more of the hosts Click & Clack.
Favorite TV shows include American Experience on PBS, documentaries by Ken Burns and
Acorn TV because he and his wife like to watch British detective shows.
Favorite books include Caste by Isabel Wilkerson. “I recently read Michael Lewis’ The Big Short and Flash Boys because Wall Street trading has always been a mystery to me.”
The Worst Person in the World is his favorite movie from this year.
Favorite apps include Libby for audiobook listening while driving long distances and Merlin Bird ID to identify birds by their songs.
