A golf course ownership group with a national presence recently acquired Leland’s Compass Pointe Golf Club and Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation.
Heritage Golf Group, owner and operator of private country clubs and high-end, daily-fee courses across the U.S., announced in a news release on Friday its acquisition of the golf courses from Renaissance Golf Group.
The acquisitions mark Heritage Golf Group’s third and fourth properties in North Carolina. The group also owns Cape Fear National and Brunswick Plantation Golf Club.
The purchases also highlight Heritage Golf Group’s “dedication to expanding its presence on the coast of the Carolinas, with five clubs added to the region over the past two years,” according to the release.
“We recognize that the Wilmington, North Carolina area is a rapidly growing market driven by an attractive lifestyle,” Andy Miller, a founding partner and chief revenue officer with Heritage Golf Group, wrote in the release. “We’re excited to further that momentum and expand our presence there.”
Compass Pointe is a private golf club, featuring an 18-hole championship course designed by North Carolina native Rick Robbins. The course measures 7,228 yards with a course rating of 74.6. It also offers top-tier practice facilities, including a driving range, a short game area and a putting green.
The golf course is complemented by a newly opened 15,000-square-foot clubhouse, a fitness center and a pool with a cabana bar. The club is located within the Compass Pointe gated, master-planned community.
Magnolia Greens is a semi-private club featuring a 27-hole championship course designed by Tom Jackson. The course has hosted numerous PGA Tour and USGA qualifying events. The property also includes Blossoms, a bar and grill that’s open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
“Heritage Golf Group brings extensive experience and a successful track record to the table, as well as a deep commitment to maintaining the standard of excellence we’ve set at Compass Pointe and Magnolia Greens,” Steve Saieed, chief operating officer with Renaissance Golf Group, wrote in the release.
“We are confident Heritage will lead both clubs into the future with a forward-looking vision that respects each club’s history and culture, prioritizes member experience, and optimizes operations at both clubs,” Saieed added. “Our members are in good hands with Heritage Golf Group.”
