A Raleigh-based property management company recently announced its expansion into the Cape Fear region.
Professional Properties Management (PPM) provides management services for homeowners' associations, offices and condominiums, as well as financial management and new development services. In a recent news release, the company announced plans to expand to New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties.
Jennifer Burch, PPM’s vice president of development and board education, said the company is looking for office space in the area. Burch, who has 26 years of experience managing homeowners' associations, will lead the Wilmington office.
“We work with the board of directors to ensure that the legal documents of the association are being abided to and that the association is in good standing,” Burch said.
According to the release, PPM manages more than 275 community associations and has worked with more than 30 local and national developers. The company offers professional management and financial services “from the development planning phase through construction and into everyday neighborhood decisions,” the release stated.
The company, which also has a presence in the Charlotte area, celebrated its 40th anniversary this month.
Matt Leffler, PPM’s chief development officer and owner, highlighted the company’s excitement for its coastal expansion in the release.
"Our investment in education, technology and people allows us to work smarter and to provide practical, streamlined solutions that meet our clients' versatile needs,” Leer wrote in the release. “We focus on helping our clients run successful communities so they have more time to focus on things they enjoy doing and that are important to them."
Burch said she's lived in the Wilmington area for about a year and became interested in growing PPM into the Cape Fear region after her son decided to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Two other local managers have already moved to the Wilmington area.
Eventually, PPM plans to “staff a full office” as it builds out its presence in the Wilmington area. That will be made up of transplants from other PPM offices and local hires, Burch said.
PPM doesn’t currently manage any homeowners’ associations or other communities in the area, but Burch said there’s potential for growth.
“The area is definitely expanding,” she said, “and we see a need for community management services as the communities grow in the Wilmington area.”
