Tuesday was a milestone day for the Holiday Inn property toward Wrightsville Beach’s north end. The property officially completed its major renovation, rebranding as Lumina on Wrightsville Beach, a Holiday Inn Resort.

“The new name draws on the storied history of an iconic pavilion constructed in 1905 to showcase the wonder of electricity while beckoning people out to the beach,” stated a news release from the property’s owner, OTO Development, part of The Johnson Group.

OTO Development acquired the Holiday Inn in December 2020 and soon after embarked on the remodeling process for the hotel at 1706 N. Lumina Ave.

Three food and beverage facilities are making their debut as part of Lumina on Wrightsville Beach. The main restaurant, Solstice Oceanfront Kitchen + Cocktails, serves “fine coastal-American cuisine and signature drinks,” according to the release. The outdoor Surfside Beach Bar & Grille features “tropical libations and bar bites,” while Longboard Coffee + Market is a combination beverage, necessities and souvenir purveyor inside the hotel.

Solstice Oceanfront Kitchen + Cocktails, open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as offers a full bar. The bar closes at 10 p.m.

A sports-themed bar, TwinFins Taproom, is in the works as well but is not yet open.
