Boombalatti’s Homemade Ice Cream recently released a new summer flavor in partnership with the Wilmington Sharks baseball team.

Sharky's Sandbar, a graham cracker-infused ice cream with a cinnamon honey swirl and Vanilla Cupcake Goldfish Grahams is now available at Boombalatti’s Forum location and will be available through the summer.

"We are thrilled to partner with our favorite baseball team, the Wilmington Sharks, to bring Sharky's Sandbar to the community," said Boombalatti’s owner Wes Bechtel.

Bechtel said the inspiration for the flavor came from a previous flavor that featured graham cracker-flavored ice cream.

“We were brainstorming ideas on how to make it ocean or shark-related while still being delicious,” Bechtel said. “Ocean led to sand, which led to sandbar. And the Goldfish Grahams were the obvious finishing touch.”

In addition to being a sweet treat for ice cream lovers and baseball fans alike, Sharky's Sandbar will also benefit two local nonprofits. A portion of the proceeds from the seasonal flavor will be donated to ACCESS of Wilmington and NourishNC.

"This collaboration embodies the spirit of camaraderie and giving back that defines both our organizations,” Bechtel said. “We look forward to celebrating with fans and making a positive impact together."

The Wilmington Sharks will play their opening game on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent, American Legion Post 10. Home games run through July 26 at Legion Stadium.

While Sharky’s Sandbar will only be available at Boombalatti’s Forum location at 1127 Military Cutoff Road, Boombalatti’s also has locations in the Brooklyn Arts District at 1005 N. Fourth St. and in Hampstead at 15919 U.S. 17.
