A Wilmington-based technology company providing geographic data and information services has been selected to present at the Pentagon’s Rapid Reaction Technology Office Global Solutions meeting this fall, according to a news release.

Geo Owl is a veteran-owned geospatial technology service provider that has worked with United States Special Operations Command, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the United States Army and the Marine Forces Special Operations Command.

The company was selected out of over 600 submissions for its Patternflows technology, which can “collect and disseminate information in a structure that allows for a massive expansion for the [Department of Defense] Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning processes,” the release stated.

"Patternflows has been in development for over two years and is finally at the stage where it's ready for prime time,” Geo Owl's CEO Nick Smith said in the release. “When you see it in action, you immediately understand that it will completely revolutionize the way we perform intelligence and leverage machines to do more for us in the future."

According to the release, Patternflows improves the way intelligence is collected, stored and disseminated and can be used for any intelligence observation. Patternflows is a desktop or web application that feeds into other sources, such as maps, dashboards or analytics tools via an API, which allows two applications to talk to each other.

The company, which opened its Wilmington headquarters in 2016, provides imagery, geospatial and full-motion video analysis, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) tactical control, IT solutions and geospatial services including technical, engineering, and integrations support.

The meeting will allow “selected innovative companies with an opportunity to make short technical presentations to government representatives about their technologies.”

Presenting companies may be selected for pilot prototyping, demonstration or experimentation, according to a notice from the Department of Defense.

Smith is a veteran of the defense and intelligence community specializing in the exploitation and operations of tactically and nationally derived ISR, according to the company website.

"Why does intelligence community software look like it was developed in 1995 and operate like it was developed in 1895? We're here to change that,” Smith said in a social media post on Patternflows. “The same fresh user experience you expect in today's age with forward-leaning technology to prepare our military and intelligence community for the future.”
