Cape Fear Realtors has appointed Densay Sengsoulavong as its government affairs director, adding a new voice to the organization’s advocacy efforts, according to a news release.

In this role, Sengsoulavong expands his current capacities to include community and political advocacy, Realtor Political Action Committee fundraising and Realtors party issues mobilization, officials said in the release.

He reports directly to Cape Fear Realtors CEO Taylor Oldroyd and "together will collaboratively engage with elected officials, community leaders and other organizations on behalf of Cape Fear Realtors -- ensuring that the 2,300-plus member advocacy association remains the 'Voice of Real Estate' in the Cape Fear region," officials said in the release.

Sengsoulavong brings combined experiences of having been a Realtor, small business owner and local political leader to Cape Fear Realtors’ growing political and community advocacy, officials said.

“Densay and I will work together often in our comprehensive advocacy efforts, and I am excited about this change. The two of us will be an active presence in local and county functions, monitoring agendas and proposed ordinances, and of course in lobbying for pro-business decisions,” Oldroyd said.

Before joining the Cape Fear Realtors staff in 2017, Sengsoulavong was a Realtor for several years; a career that included being a transaction manager, managing broker, broker in charge and eventually principal owner of a real estate firm.

He has also served in a leadership position in the New Hanover County Republican Party, where he worked on local and statewide races and organized volunteers for national campaigns.

Most recently, he served as the community affairs director at Cape Fear Realtors.

“I look forward to continuing to affect good public policy to the benefit of our industry and community,” said Sengsoulavong, who as a member, previously served on Cape Fear Realtors'  Board of Directors as well as CFR’s Professional Standards Committee.

Sengsoulavong is a graduate of University of North Carolina Wilmington and remains active in the community through service on local boards and committees including UNCW Alumni Association, N.C. Azalea Festival and Tau Kappa Epsilon.
