Shirl Modlin New has a new leadership position at UNCW.

She has been named the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s first art director within the Office of University Relations (OUR), the university’s internal and external communications and marketing, officials stated in a release.

New has more than 30 years of experience in design and print production. She has pursued a certificate in business administration and a webmaster certificate in design media, according to the release.

With the new role, she will lead UNCW’s branding and oversee its creative services team.
