The University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Board of Trustees has elected its officers for the 2019-20 academic year, according to a news release.

Henry “Hal” Kitchin was elected as chair. He will lead the board, the executive committee and the endowment board as chair, stated the release.

Kitchin is a Wilmington resident and an attorney.

“Since 2013, it has been an honor and a privilege to serve on the UNCW Board of Trustees, and I look forward to continued collaboration with my fellow trustees in this new capacity,” Kitchin said in the release.

Dennis Burgard was elected vice chair. Burgard, a Jacksonville resident, has also been a board member since 2013, stated the release. He is currently chair of the external affairs committee and a member of the educational planning and programs and executive committees.

Gidget Kidd, also a board member since 2013, was re-elected board secretary, stated the release. She currently serves as a member of the audit, risk and compliance committee, the educational planning and programs committee and the executive committee.

Yousry Sayed, founder of Wilmington-based Quality Chemical Laboratories and former UNCW administrator, and Michael Lee, former state senator and former UNCW student, are new members to the board. They will serve terms through 2023.

Kidd, Woody White, Agnes Beane and Hank Miller were all reappointed by the UNC Board of Governors, with terms through 2023, stated the release.
