Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear has hired Tiffany Shirley-Chase as its new executive director.

For more than 15 years, Shirley-Chase has led nonprofit organizations serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, according to a news release. Her career spans from managing direct service programs in San Francisco’s Tenderloin and Los Angeles’ Skid Row to overseeing complex housing systems across Los Angeles County, the release stated.

Most recently, as deputy chief programs Officer at LA Family Housing, she led multidisciplinary teams, managed multimillion-dollar public contracts and partnered with government agencies to strengthen services during a period of organizational growth, according to the release.

Shirley-Chase is a native North Carolinian who grew up in Kinston and attended East Carolina University.

“I’m honored to come home to North Carolina and join Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear,” stated Shirley-Chase in the release. “My career has taught me that lasting change happens when strong partnerships meet bold ideas and a shared commitment to what’s possible. I’m excited to listen, learn and build on the strong foundation already here as we work together to help more families achieve lasting stability.”

Tom Barth, the chair of the Family Promise board, stated in the release, “We are most fortunate to have found a leader with such deep administrative and direct personal experience working with the homeless population. Tiffany brings a fresh perspective from another part of the country plus has roots southeastern North Carolina.”
