Novant Health Acquires Wilmington Surgical Associates

Novant Health has acquired Wilmington Surgical Associates.

According to a press release, the surgery provider will now operate as Wilmington Surgical Associates, a Novant Health affiliate.

“We have proudly cared for patients across Wilmington for many years, and we’re excited to continue building on that strong foundation,” said Gregory Bebb, board-certified surgeon and director of the breast surgery center, in the release. “Becoming part of the Novant Health network allows us to continue delivering expert surgical care while connecting patients to additional resources and a more coordinated care experience.”

Wilmington Surgical Associates moved into a new 20,000-square-foot facility at 2739 Iron Gate Drive in 2024, a site it purchased for $925,000 in 2023. The provider had previously operated from the same buildings at 1414 and 1404 Medical Center Drive since 1972.

The practice offers general surgical care, breast, oncologic and bariatric surgery in addition to wound and vein care. The same team of surgeons and advanced practice providers will remain with the practice.

“For more than 50 years, Wilmington Surgical Associates has expertly cared for our community, including through its privileges with Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where the team has performed thousands of surgeries,” said Laurie Whalin, president of Novant Health’s Coastal Region, in the press release. “We look forward to strengthening our relationship and working with these experienced physicians to continue delivering remarkable care for the communities we serve.”
