Have You Considered Outsourcing Human Resources?

Sponsored Content provided by Andy Almeter - President, Leath HR Group, LLC

What is it?

Outsourced Human Resources (HR), also known as “Fractional HR”, is a model of consulting where an organization hires an outside firm to either act as their HR department or enhance their existing HR team.  HR consultants offer a range of industry expertise from recruiting and retainment, benefits administration, performance management, compensation analyses, employee relations, coaching, training and, of course, compliance (employment law and regulation trends and audits).

What are the benefits of fractional HR?

It can be a great way to streamline your operations and focus on your core business. No doubt about it, payroll is the largest cost for the majority of companies and welcoming a new employee entails more than just a financial responsibility; it is a pledge of commitment to them and their family. The fractional HR model allows organizations access to high-performing HR leaders (consultants) for a fraction of the cost and commitment.  In general, the top benefits of fractional HR are cost-effectiveness, access to industry experts with specialized training and experience, and the flexibility of the model which allows the HR team to scale (up or down) with the organization.  That expertise can reduce your risk and liability, foster a cohesive work environment that results in happy, productive employees, AND allows the organization’s leaders to focus on what they do best, run the business.

When Should I Outsource HR?

Deciding to outsource HR is a critical decision for your organization.  In general, a thorough review of your HR function is a great place to start.  Oftentimes, the decision is sparked by an event, and it’s typically not a positive one, so it’s best to be proactive.  Start by defining your organization’s needs with respect to talent acquisition, employee engagement, compensation + benefits, and compliance.  Choosing the right firm is key.  Research them, talk to industry colleagues and check their credentials and references!  Most importantly, meet with them for a consultation and have them review their approach and philosophy with you, this will help you decide if they will be a culture fit for your organization.
