Since 1985, Cindy Stancil has played an integral role in the design development, construction and operation of a number of leading senior living communities.

In 1989, Stancil moved to Wilmington, N.C., and opened The Commons Assisted Living, an 85-bed community, which offered a new concept in dementia care. In 1993, The Commons’ Special Care Dementia Program was selected by the National Alzheimer’s Associate as a leader in programming for the 10 quality standards set by the association. Only two assisted living programs were selected out of 64 applications in the country.

In the decades that followed, Stancil participated in the development, design, construction and operation of nursing homes, independent living communities (Brightmore of Wilmington, Brightmore of South Charlotte, and Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall), and assisted living communities (Liberty Commons Assisted Living of Onslow County, and The Commons and The Kempton at Brightmore). She also helped to design and currently operates an independent living complex in Whiteville, N.C.

As president and executive director of Liberty Senior Living Management Services, LLC, Stancil is responsible for the oversight, management and operation of Liberty Senior Living’s assisted living and independent living communities in the Carolinas. Dedicated to enhancing the quality of senior living and health care administration, Stancil has served as president and secretary for the North Carolina Assisted Living Association, and served on its board for 15 years. Over the past few years, she has served on several committees involved with the state’s Study of Comparability developed as a result of CMS’s Plan of Correction for North Carolina. She is certified as a Nursing Home Administrator and Assisted Living Administrator and has extensive training in Alzheimer care and senior living services.
