Brunswick County Home Sales Reach $1B Milestone Early

By Cece Nunn, posted Jul 13, 2021
Home sales in Brunswick County recently hit the $1 billion mark, according to statistics released Monday.

"Although Brunswick County saw record numbers in 2020, total year-to-date sales reached $1 billion in June of this year, which is two months sooner than last year’s record of August," stated a report from the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.

The inventory of available homes is at an all-time low, according to the report, and the average days on the market (DOM) is at about 30 days.

BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh said in the report, “Each month I think I can’t be surprised again, and then I look at the numbers. Homes are selling, and they’re selling fast. Brunswick County’s market is as hot as our weather, and I see no signs of it cooling down in the near future.”

Brunswick County had nearly $258 million in sales in June, a 43% increase over last June’s $180 million, the statistics showed.

"The number of units sold jumped 20%, from 553 to 666. The average sale price increased 19%, from $325,473 to $387,170," according to the report.

The report also stated that 147 homes sold for prices between $500,000 and $999,999, and 15 homes sold for over $1 million, with the highest-priced sale at $2.25 million.

"Total year-to-date sales are up 72.5% compared to 2020, increasing from $752,660,000 to $1,298,469,429," according to the report. "Average sale prices are up 20.9% compared to last year, increasing from $306,857 to $370,896, and the number of units sold is up from 2,433 to 3,485, a 43.2% increase."
