Exclusive Members-only Restaurant Planned For Wrightsville Beach

A private social club with initiation fees that could be around $20,000 is in the works at Wrightsville Beach.

The Commodore Club at Wrightsville Yacht Club is currently in development at the Wrightsville Beach Marina. Spokesperson Victoria Tinney said plans are still in the pre-construction phase and details pertaining to membership are awaiting final approval from the club’s board of directors. 

Tinney said that after the initiation fee, members will likely pay around $2,500 in annual dues to the dock-and-dine concept.

The website describes the club as a two-story, indoor/outdoor waterfront restaurant without the crowds or stuffiness of traditional private clubs.  

“The Commodore Club is a unique dining experience coming to Wrightsville Beach,” Tinney said. “The structure itself will be built on a barge, so it will have the ability to be moved for maintenance but will be operated out of a slip at Wrightsville Beach Marina.”

Tinney said the main dining room will be located on the bottom floor, with a bar, lounge and deck on the second floor.  

“Aside from the physical structure, what is going to make the Commodore Club stand out is its cuisine,” Tinney said. “Our primary focus is to provide a quality, fine-dining and cocktail experience.”

To be considered for membership, interested parties must fill out an online form and submit a $1,000 refundable reservation fee to the Wrightsville Yacht Club.

According to the Commodore Club website, if membership is accepted, the reservation fee becomes non-refundable. New members will then be notified of the amount and payment schedule of initiation fees, which will be used as initial working capital for the Commodore Club and to pay for the construction of club facilities. 

“We are excited about this new venture and we think it's going to add something really special to the beach,” Tinney said.
