Celito Acquires Wilmington IT Firms CloudWyze, ACS

By Cierra Noffke, posted About 6 hours ago

Celito Technologies, a Raleigh-based IT services firm and internet provider, has acquired two Wilmington IT firms, CloudWyze and Atlantic Computer Services (ACS).

While the firm completed its acquisition of CloudWyze and its managed service assets in the first quarter of the year, it officially acquired ACS on Oct. 1. The financial terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

To mark the acquisition, Celito is hosting a launch celebration Wednesday at Wrightsville Beach Brewing from 5 to 7 p.m.

Celito CEO Merrick Marquie views the acquisitions as a long-term investment in a dynamic market.

“It’s a market that cares about people,” Marquie said. “It’s a market that cares about service. It’s a market that is growing and is dynamic in a lot of interesting ways.”

Celito, founded in 1999, offers IT management, fiber internet, voice and data center solutions. In 2023, Boston-headquartered M/C Partners invested in Celito to support the company’s expansion of its fiber network and service offerings in Raleigh and beyond.

Following the integration of ACS, Celito plans to consolidate the companies under the Celito brand and expand office space in the building CloudWyze occupies at 1838 Sir Tyler Drive. As it integrates the teams, Celito plans to continue hiring locally, Marquie said.

According to a company spokesperson, Celito now employs about 15 people in the Wilmington area, for a total of 50 employees companywide.

Shaun Olsen, who founded CloudWyze in 2012 and now serves as the vice president of strategy at Celito, said the Raleigh firm was a natural fit for CloudWyze.

“We have always been kind of looking for a partner and a way to kind of expand our territory,” Olsen said.

“AI is obviously coming to market, which will cause a big shift in the industry, and having a partner beside us to be able to go through that with was valuable,” he added.

According to Olsen, the combined team can share staff between the Raleigh and Wilmington markets when extra talent is needed, allowing the company to reach more clients more quickly.

“We want real smart human beings based in the Carolinas taking care of people as fast as possible,” Marquie said.

“The depth that Celito brings is something that we didn’t have access to before,” said Robbie Garner, president and CEO of ACS.

Garner purchased ACS in 2006 after working at a manufacturing company for more than 10 years, and he said that ACS team members will remain with the company.

“If (customers) have enjoyed working with a specific team member, that team member is still here,” he added.

The CloudWyze website will be taken down by the end of the week as the company integrates with Celito, and the ACS website is expected to follow within a month or so, according to a company spokesperson.

Correction: This version of the story clarifies that Celito acquired CloudWyze's managed service assets, not its fiber assets.
