Eagle Guard Core Cell Co. (EGCCC), a Wilmington-based captive insurance company focused on making alternative risk financing more accessible to businesses, recently announced the appointment of R. Scott Satterfield to its board of directors.

According to a news release, Satterfield brings more than 30 years of experience in economic development, business recruitment and strategic growth to the EGCCC board.

"As CEO of Wilmington Business Development (WBD), a position he has held for more than three decades, he has played a significant role in attracting and supporting businesses throughout southeastern North Carolina," the release stated.

Under his leadership, WBD has assisted numerous companies with establishing or expanding operations in the region, including Amazon, GE Aviation, Live Oak Bank, nCino, Maersk, MegaCorp Logistics and FedEx, among others, according to the release.

"Scott has been instrumental in shaping Wilmington's business community for decades, and we're excited to welcome him to the Eagle Guard board," said Ryan
Legg, co-founder of Eagle Guard Core Cell Co., in the release. "His experience working with business leaders, understanding their challenges, and helping companies grow will be invaluable as we continue introducing Eagle Guard to businesses looking for greater control over their insurance costs and long-term risk strategies."

In addition to his leadership at WBD, Satterfield served on the N.C. Economic Development Board from 2002 to 2005 following his appointment by then-Gov. Mike Easley, the release stated. During his tenure, he contributed to statewide economic development strategies and initiatives, including the Jobs Development and Investment Grant (JDIG) and One North Carolina programs, according to the release.

A Wilmington native and graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Satterfield has been recognized by Business North Carolina magazine as one of the state's 100 most influential business leaders, the release stated.
