Cape Fear Community College recently announced its emergency medical services (EMS) program has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

“The CAAHEP accreditation process is rigorous and involves an in-depth curriculum review, faculty qualifications, facilities and student outcomes,” according to a news release.

The initial program accreditation extends until 2029.

“The need for skilled healthcare professionals in our region is growing, and CFCC is proud to play a role in ensuring that paramedics entering the workforce are well educated and prepared to meet industry demands,” CFCC President Jim Morton stated in the release.

According to the release, graduates of the program are qualified to work in areas that include EMS, fire departments, rescue agencies, hospital specialty areas, industry and educational and government agencies.
