By Staff Reports, posted May 19, 2023

Robert Parker

Chief Operating Officer, Cape Fear Solar Systems

Parker oversees day-to-day operations for the Wilmington-based company that has installed nearly 4,000 solar systems locally, according to the firm.

Regularly reads the Greater Wilmington Business Journal, StarNews and The Surfer’s Journal.

Go-to websites are Canary Media, which covers clean energy news; Stab Mag, a surfing media outlet; and ESPN.

Favorite podcasts include Marketplace “for economic news, trends and stories;” Lipped, a surfing podcast covering the World Surf League; and ESPN’s The Lowe Post from Zach Lowe, covering the NBA.

On the small screen: “I mostly watch sports if I am watching TV, but I also enjoy some HBO shows like Succession, and my all-time favorite show is The Wire.”

Parker recently read the book Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller, Sr. by Ron Chernow, and he just finished Genius of Place by Justin Martin “about the life of Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed Central Park and the grounds of the Biltmore and is considered the father of American landscape architecture.”

Apps in heavy rotation are GroupMe “to connect with friends, especially from college that I do not see much in person” and Windy – “a great weather app that shows multiple weather models and is great for planning your day or predicting good surfing conditions!”
