Lighting The Way For Area Businesses

What are the major components of a properly designed lighting system?

Lighting is vital to our day to day lives. It creates an emotional component to how we experience the world around us. A properly designed system takes into account three major components: aesthetics, function, and efficiency. The aesthetical component provides the emotion, the wow factor so to speak. This is what excites us and draws our attention, like when a tall building lights up at night, or how a retailer may use specialized lighting to showcase its products. Lighting draws us in, like the neon along the Vegas strip. The functional aspect of lighting is also crucial to proper lighting design, because in addition to providing the wow factor, we also need lighting to serve its intended purpose, to help us see. Whether inside or out, day or night, we need to be able to see the world around us – our surroundings. The last component, efficiency, has become a major point of concern when designing a lighting system as the world continues to press for sustainability and energy conservation. LED lighting has proved to be a valuable tool for creating sustainability in the lighting sector.

I’m thinking of upgrading my company’s lighting to LED, how can Southern Lighting Services help my business?

From conceptualization to completion, Southern Lighting works one on one with each of our clients to create a lighting plan that will fit their budget and accomplish their specific goals. We are constantly researching new products, new design methods, and installation practices to ensure that we always exceed your expectations from start to finish. With the boom of LED lighting, there have been many fly-by-night lighting companies who do not have your best interest at heart and are out only to take your money. We hold ourselves to a higher standard and are always looking out for our customers. We utilize state of the art lighting design software to provide validity to our design concepts, and as an electrical contractor with an unlimited electrical license in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, we perform our own installations, never utilizing subcontractors, ensuring your project is installed correctly, safely and legally, with the least impact to your daily operations.

How does the electrical services component add to the existing services that Southern Lighting offers?

There is more to Southern Lighting Services than meets the name. We have been an electrical contractor for almost 30 years and have completed tens of thousands of electrical projects outside of lighting both small and large. We perform basic services such as outlet changeouts, breaker replacements, and system troubleshooting, but we also tackle much larger projects such as installing electrical services to buildings, trenching, panel changeouts, wireless control system installs, transformer installations, and generator installations. All of our technicians are highly trained and are equipped to ensure all jobs are completed correctly. Being able to offer our customers a one stop shop providing both electrical and lighting services has proven invaluable to our customers. We can even maintain your signage.

I’m not ready for LED lighting, can Southern Lighting Services help maintain our existing lighting and electrical systems?

Yes, we can. Since our inception, we have provided both electrical and lighting maintenance programs, helping businesses just like yours maximize the full potential of each of these systems. Our strategically located technicians drive and operate from fully stocked, state of the art bucket trucks designed with lighting and electrical repairs and installation in mind, allowing us to provide routine maintenance at any desired level, whether it be monthly, quarterly, or on an as needed basis. It is imperative for any business to ensure their electrical and lighting systems function at their intended performance level to reduce liability, increase productivity, and increase the longevity of each of these systems.

We perform our own maintenance; can we purchase lighting or electrical products from you to install ourselves?

You certainly can. Southern Lighting Services works directly with a large number of lighting and electrical product manufactures to provide both budget friendly and specification grade lamps, fixtures, batteries, and many other related products. We also perform in-house testing of these products to ensure superior performance, durability, and product support. Rest assured, we can assist you in all your lighting and electrical product needs.
