Making Time For Wellness With Chiropractic

According to the American Chiropractic Association, patients who visit their chiropractor to seek treatment for lower back pain have a 90% decrease in odds for both early and long-term opioid use. By using preventive health care approaches to manage existing pain and to avoid future pain, patients suffering from medical conditions can steer clear of medication use by treating their symptoms in a natural way. The doctors and staff at Sito Chiropractic strive to provide high quality care to their patients and educate them about preventative care and practices.

What Is The Concept Of Healthy?

Dr. Ashly wants to treat the cause of the problem not just manage a patient’s symptoms. He does this by treating the body with preventative care. Dr. Ashly explains to his patients that there is a difference between normal and common. Often, patients describe aches and pains such as arthritis to be normal. Dr. Ahley makes a point to educate his patients by explaining that the pains they are feeling are not normal, but common. These structural aches and pains can almost always be eliminated by incorporating chiropractic adjustments. Treating the medical condition at its source is what you can expect at Sito. They don’t want to mask symptoms with medications – they strive to determine the source of the condition in order to eliminate it.

What Can Chiropractic Treat?

Chiropractic can treat existing pain within the body and prevent pain from happening. Regular treatments help to prevent body and joint pain before it even occurs. Taking time out for regular chiropractic treatments helps keep our body in alignment, which prevents the onset of aches and pains. When scheduled properly, existing pain can be eliminated by a series of chiropractic treatments. Sito Chiropractic treats a variety of medical problems; arthritis, carpal tunnel, degenerative disk disease, fibromyalgia, and sciatica are just a few medical issues that patients seek treatment plans for. Injuries like whiplash are also included on this list. When we injure our body, flexibility, mobility, and strength are all impacted. In order to rehabilitate the injury, we must first find where the deficits are and then increase the flexibility, mobility, and strength to the affected area by using chiropractic adjustments and other modes of preventive care.

What Is Preventative Care?

According to Dr. Ashly, our spines are very similar to our teeth. If we wait until we have symptoms, our bodies will need more care to get back on track. By regularly checking in with our body and treating it well, we can avoid major health problems and symptoms. A 3D body view scan is a tool that can be used for preventative care. For example, Dr. Ashly will scan a patient’s foot in order to solve a problem of hip, knee, or back pain. He explains that the feet are the foundation of our body’s alignment and can cause pain and discomfort in other parts of the body. Sometimes treating the specific area for pain isn’t always what relives the pain. Our body and all its parts work together to produce movement. If we don’t look at the body in a holistic way, meaning that we are assessing each area, it’s possible that we will not get to the root of the problem.

What Is The First Step For Someone Who Is New To Chiropractic?

All patients need to complete a “biomechanical” screen during their first visit to the office. Understanding how the muscles and bones of our body work together in order to function properly is key when trying to solve lower back pain, neck pain, or other musculoskeletal irritations. This initial screen is multifactorial and includes, a posture screen, understanding the patient’s daily ergonomic requirements, orthopedic and neurological testing, and possible x-rays.

What Is Laser Therapy And How Can It Help Me?

Sito Chiropractic also offers laser therapy which is used in combination with chiropractic adjustments. Laser therapy aids in the healing process by helping to accelerate tissue repair and promoting new cell growth. Laser therapy also aids in reducing scar tissue. Scar tissue is more pain sensitive than regular healthy tissue, weaker, less elastic, and is predisposed to re-injury. Laser treatments have also been known to improve nerve function, promote anti-inflammation, and improve vascular activity.

How Does Sito Chiropractic Give Back To The Community?

For the past 15 years, the doctors and massage therapist of Sito Chiropractic visit schools in our community to provide preventative health care education and answer health related questions from teachers once a week. Each teacher receives a short massage and one-on-one time with Dr. Ashly and Dr. Heer where they provide helpful tips for stress reduction and self-care. The doctors at Sito know how important the teachers in our community are and sharing their knowledge and services with them is just another way they keep members of our community healthy. Our community’s children are one of our biggest assets, so making sure the teachers who guide them each day are cared for is important.
