Healing Place Announces Board Leaders, Additions

The Healing Place of New Hanover County recently announced new leadership and additions to its board of directors as the organization continues to expand its impact in addiction recovery, homelessness and community healing, according to a news release.

The facility provides peer-driven recovery and shelter services for individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction.

The news release also recognized outgoing leaders and board members.

"After years of dedicated service, Board President Jay Davidson, Vice President Maurice Ludwick, and board members Courtney Weisshaupt and Frankie Roberts have completed their terms," the release stated. "The organization extends its sincere gratitude for their leadership and commitment during a period of significant growth."

The board has elected Lenwood "Bo" Dean Jr. as president and Mary Ann Furniss as vice president.

"The Healing Place is fortunate to have strong leaders guiding our mission forward," said Brian Mingia, executive director of The Healing Place. "We are grateful for the dedication of our outgoing board members and excited to welcome Bo Dean and Mary Ann Furniss into these leadership roles as we continue expanding our impact across the community."

The organization also welcomes three new members to the Board of Directors:
  • Diane Winthrow
  • Brandy Keck
  • Hank Miller

"Their experience and perspectives will help strengthen the organization's governance and strategic vision," the release stated.

The Healing Place is currently seeking two additional board members.

"Individuals with expertise in business, finance, healthcare, legal services, fundraising, marketing, human resources, or community development are encouraged to inquire about board service opportunities, according to the release.
